I was listening to something the other day that made me think of all the ways I've failed.
I was having a bit of a down day anyway, and this podcast just hit me right in the 'what a failure I am' bruise.
(Don't worry, I know I'm not, you don't need to reassure me I'm fabulous in all ways. Wait, what am I saying?! Please feel free to leave a comment to tell me how awesome I am!)
Anyway, so I was in this failure funk, and wondering how many of us fall into these failure funks based on MADE UP rules of how we're meant to live?!
I ran off to the other side of the world in my late twenties because I wasn't doing the 'married, house, kids, career, nice car' dance.
I had some of that stuff, but I thought I had to have it all by 30, and at 27 I felt like I was failing.
Because I didn't have all the things I thought I should have.
There is nothing wrong with the 'married, house, kids, career, nice car' dance, but there's also nothing wrong with NOT having all that stuff either.
Because I didn't have 60% of that stuff, I was able to piss off to Australia for a year, and I wouldn't swap that adventure for anything.
Our lives don't always turn out the way we expected.
We fail, we go down unexpected paths, we don't do the things we thought we would do for some reason.
Sometimes we do everything we're meant to do and we're still fucking knackered and feeling like shit.
Life be lifing. 🤷
No one gets out of it without a few failures in their journey.
So just in case you have also gone into a failure funk lately, don't forget that all the things we should do and all the things we should be are made up.
Sometimes we make them up ourselves, but as often, we absorb them by osmosis from our families, friends, and society.
So not only are they made up, but they're made up by someone we don't even know.
I mean really!
Are you going to let some random person you don't even know make you feel like a failure?
No.
And don't let random people you do know, or even yourself, make you feel like a failure either.
Cos you're awesome, no matter what you have or haven't done in your life.
You're a slice of divine joy, and just by existing you make my world better. (Imagine writing all this great stuff and no bugger reading it! Pfff. Thank God for you. 🤣)
You're a wonder of nature, a miracle in a you-shape.
So fuck that failure funk, you rock!
Love ya!

Things I love about coaching #942: your coach reminds you WHO YOU ARE.
I haven't been myself of late (hello perimenopause/burnout) but a conversation this week with my coach reminded me who I am.
What I have created.
What I stand for.
In the hustle and bustle of life, I'd forgotten.
This month I'm doing a coaching session for a love donation.
Simpe: give me what you can, whether that's money or chocolate or a book you love to share.
And I will coach you.
Let's remind you who you are.
